MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) — Annette Smith has been fighting the power for more than 15 years, tenaciously opposing energy projects she believes harm the environment or quality of life in Vermont.

Now she is the target of a criminal investigation into whether her efforts constitute unlicensed legal work — but her allies say her only offense is too often annoying a green power industry that boasts deep pockets.

"Even though this is a preposterous charge, and will likely be thrown out, its purpose will be fulfilled: to chill anyone's free speech rights who dares to question the powerful in Montpelier," attorney Deborah Bucknam wrote in an op-ed.

Smith's efforts to give towns and local groups greater say in large-scale renewable energy projects are meant to "help those who cannot afford the high priced lawyers the developers can," wrote Bucknam, who has represented critics of a wind project in northeastern Vermont.

yes  Robert and whether it is wildlife or human health , it is called collateral damage to greed and lies/and having been in this battle since the inception I have never met a wind warrior who was not a wildlife advocate .

Here we have the the dark and sleazy side of the wind scam industry on full display. It requires a banana republic army of lawyers to suppress the truth and the truth tellers. It requires that certain 'environmental' groups and supposedly objective media outlets to be bought off to secure a veneer of respectability. It requires suppression of science, facts and honesty, through propaganda, threats and intimidation. The wind scam industry is so similar to the native wildlife killing system that exists on the federal and state level. The wildlife killing cartel ignores the centrality of biodiversity, the vital role of natural predators in every healthy ecosystem, the right of native wildlife to exist in what is their homeland too, the ethics of humane stewardship, in favor of cruelty, violence and blood lust. It relies on demonization of wolves, coyotes, bears, wild cats, etc and prejudice, ignorance, intimidation and misinformation. This corrupt cartel serves a shrinking minority of heavily armed animal abusers, liars and killers. If you are a devoted wind warrior you should be a devoted wildlife defender as well. They are very much related and are both built on a corrupt, violent, conscience-less system that must change, for the sake of a healthy state, a healthy country and a healthy planet for all.

The smoke and mirrors of the 2016 Presidential race needs to be cleared aside to see what is actually happening to people, and what they can do about it. Join the rebellion. Support Annette Smith. Go to Augusta and freak out the pols. The media will have to see this.

So much of the focus has been on the Presidential race. But we also need to focus at the more local levels including those in the Maine legislature. The crooked must go.

Bullying citizens and trying to enforce a gag order on free speech at the request of a wind developer sure makes the wind industry and Monpelier look bad, which is a good thing.  We need to rally behind Annette Smith!

******** IF LINKS BELOW DON'T WORK, GOOGLE THEM*********

(excerpts) From Part 1 – On Maine’s Wind Law “Once the committee passed the wind energy bill on to the full House and Senate, lawmakers there didn’t even debate it. They passed it unanimously and with no discussion. House Majority Leader Hannah Pingree, a Democrat from North Haven, says legislators probably didn’t know how many turbines would be constructed in Maine if the law’s goals were met." . – Maine Center for Public Interest Reporting, August 2010 https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-power-bandwagon-hits-bumps-in-the-road-3/From Part 2 – On Wind and Oil Yet using wind energy doesn’t lower dependence on imported foreign oil. That’s because the majority of imported oil in Maine is used for heating and transportation. And switching our dependence from foreign oil to Maine-produced electricity isn’t likely to happen very soon, says Bartlett. “Right now, people can’t switch to electric cars and heating – if they did, we’d be in trouble.” So was one of the fundamental premises of the task force false, or at least misleading?" https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-swept-task-force-set-the-rules/From Part 3 – On Wind-Required New Transmission Lines Finally, the building of enormous, high-voltage transmission lines that the regional electricity system operator says are required to move substantial amounts of wind power to markets south of Maine was never even discussed by the task force – an omission that Mills said will come to haunt the state.“If you try to put 2,500 or 3,000 megawatts in northern or eastern Maine – oh, my god, try to build the transmission!” said Mills. “It’s not just the towers, it’s the lines – that’s when I begin to think that the goal is a little farfetched.” https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/flaws-in-bill-like-skating-with-dull-skates/
