1. Wind generated electricity will not “get us off of oil.” Less than one percent of the electricity in the U.S. comes from oil-fired generators. In 2011 in Maine, it was less than one half of one percent. We use oil for transportation and heating. Electric vehicles and electric heat would reduce oil usage, but it would sharply increase electricity consumption. So ratepayers would more urgently demand and require affordable electricity rather than expensive wind electricity.

They COULD repeal it, as Maine has exceeded its Federal Mandate. But in the legislature infinite stupidity Maine was thrust into the ISO-NE grid system. One of the steps taken to Obligate Maine for More Wind Power, and Utilize Maine's Land as a Plantation for any type of energy either produced or transported through the state.
Piece by piece, transmission line by line, farm by farm they are slowly duplicating nearly the same path as Peter Vigue's 2012 Proposed EW Transportation & Utility Corridor.
The Highway was the carrot to appease the people though the intent was energy transportation, of all types.
Bakken Crude was on the list of Items until Canada decided to go over the top of Maine after the Lac Megantic incident.
If you missed it, a brief look back through the past.
Starting with Page 20-29 even the Greenies find fault with wind turbines (some at least) Brad Blake article CTFWPGreed, profit by association or future position in corporations, obviously Lobbyists, some from inside our legislature past served knowing the Do's and Don'ts.
Look at how many including Governors who have gone before, to reap their rewards.

WHY CANT THEY JUST REPEAL the "EXPEDITED WIND POWER LAW" ??
IS IT MAYBE DO TO THE FACT THAT there are too many LEGISLATORES in AUGUSTA that are benefitting from its existence ?? MAYBE Its because of the influence that the LOBBYISTS have over the legislature ??
MAYBE ITS BOTH -and probably is !!
