Four pro-solar power protesters arrested at CMP Augusta headquarters

Four pro-solar power

protesters arrested at

CMP Augusta headquarters

The group of Quakers said it was speaking out against Central Maine Power's efforts
'to undermine solar power in Maine.'

AUGUSTA — Several members of a protest led by Quakers were arrested Monday afternoon at Central Maine Power headquarters over solar power and net metering. Net metering refers to the means by which producers of solar power are credited by the power company for electricity they send into the grid.

About 30 protesters assembled at CMP’s Edison Drive facility at noontime, with one hoisting a homemade sign reading “Let’s move beyond petroleum to a clean energy future.” The protesters were not allowed inside the CMP building lobby, but were allowed in the parking lot, where they sang songs about the sun and held up signs calling out CMP for being “shady.”

Just before 1 p.m., the group made its way to the front doors of the power company. The doors were locked. Augusta police were called. Rob Levin, a Portland Quaker, told the group to walk “calmly and non-violently” toward the doors.

“CMP has chosen to keep out ratepayers,” he said at the doors. “They’ve literally shut the doors on their ratepayers.”

Augusta police told everyone at the scene to leave the area immediately, or they would be arrested.

You want solar power? Good!

Buy your solar panels with your own money, buy your batteries and controllers yourself , and live off grid .

You will not be given my tax dollars for this  "greenwashed" psychological disorder that costs  a poor state dearly every day in higher electron costs.

and.. NO as well,   hundreds of thousands  of Mainers won't  pay for these elitist green dream grid  schemes only supported  by these zealots who wrongly believe  they are saving the world from man-made  global warming(a scam if there ever was one).

Many Mainers  already can't pay the bill for costly renewable electrons  .

The majority  won't support the socialized cost structure   of the  solar zealot's half crazed  global warming psychosis.

So have US Quakers divested themselves of fossil fuel industry investments? Much discussion but have they?  and then there is is ethical dilemma:

Divestment FAQ | Quaker Earthcare Witness

Isn't it hypocritical to divest of investments in fossil fuel companies on one hand, but keep driving our gas powered cars on the other? Actually, this question goes right to the heart of why many of us have decided to take the step of divestment. First, the point should be made that we do not believe that divestment by itself wil.."
Some progress toward the goal was made:  "

May 8, 2017 - More than a quarter of Quaker meetings in Britain have made a commitment to no longerinvest in the fossil fuel industry. Quakers in Britain has just announced 19 more divestment commitments. This announcement comes at the beginning of the ten-day Global Divestment Mobilisation when people around ..."

Everyone who knows how much taxpayer and ratepayer money is given to those of solar love, and I'm including the pro solar people too, know how much these protests are greed driven and look socially ungrateful.

(excerpts) From Part 1 – On Maine’s Wind Law “Once the committee passed the wind energy bill on to the full House and Senate, lawmakers there didn’t even debate it. They passed it unanimously and with no discussion. House Majority Leader Hannah Pingree, a Democrat from North Haven, says legislators probably didn’t know how many turbines would be constructed in Maine if the law’s goals were met." . – Maine Center for Public Interest Reporting, August 2010 https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-power-bandwagon-hits-bumps-in-the-road-3/From Part 2 – On Wind and Oil Yet using wind energy doesn’t lower dependence on imported foreign oil. That’s because the majority of imported oil in Maine is used for heating and transportation. And switching our dependence from foreign oil to Maine-produced electricity isn’t likely to happen very soon, says Bartlett. “Right now, people can’t switch to electric cars and heating – if they did, we’d be in trouble.” So was one of the fundamental premises of the task force false, or at least misleading?" https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-swept-task-force-set-the-rules/From Part 3 – On Wind-Required New Transmission Lines Finally, the building of enormous, high-voltage transmission lines that the regional electricity system operator says are required to move substantial amounts of wind power to markets south of Maine was never even discussed by the task force – an omission that Mills said will come to haunt the state.“If you try to put 2,500 or 3,000 megawatts in northern or eastern Maine – oh, my god, try to build the transmission!” said Mills. “It’s not just the towers, it’s the lines – that’s when I begin to think that the goal is a little farfetched.” https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/flaws-in-bill-like-skating-with-dull-skates/
