Like the MEPCO ( CMP & Emera Maine ) Mouthpieces have told the folks in Corinna, the MEPCO Project may not be needed for another 10 years. Maybe the same for the individual venture by CMP to the NW Mountains of Maine. ---

But we should still continue to oppose the NW passage as it will, in the end, provide for a Transmission ready path for future wind. (and Solar farms if they have clearcut sufficiently already )

CMP's proposal through Maine's NW Mountains is the next Northern Pass. Then there is the MEPCO northeastern Pass for Wind/Solar that exists when the nod is given. Meanwhile, many of Maine's Citizens along its route have property blighted by just the proposal with 80% if the route under commitment to lease or sell "IF the project ever comes about". This misery could go well beyond their lifetime and into the future.

Both proposals should be denied.
Northern Pass is still not a "done deal." If NH is smart, they will reject it and force a court battle, allowing the citizens to mount a defense. In addition, even though this is supposed to be built to import electricity from Canada to Massachusetts . . . . does that have anything to do with Maine residents? ISO-NE would be handling the hookups for this project, and I'm afraid it would still raise our rates in Maine as we are part of ISO-NE. The same thing happened when CMP did the…

The same thing happened when CMP did the "upgrade" to send wind power to Mass. Our rates went up 20% though we had no benefit or use of the "upgrade".
