Wind and water: Powering our past, and future

More from the unhinged left. This time it's from the New Hampshire press which has been co-opted by those from Massachusetts plying their idea that huge offshore wind developments would save our planet. They would be building one a week until 2030 off the Maine Coast and he wonders why New Hampshire should not get in on the action. Anybody see the pictures of what happened to the turbines in Puerto Rico after the hurricane struck? Turbines are not made for high winds. The title mentions water, but it is only the water offshore that gets a mention, not the flowing water of our rivers and streams in Maine. He speaks of water wheels that were phased out at the turn of the 20th century not the specialized turbines that can operate 24/7/365 at full capacity. They have become so blinded by their "green" ideology to bring back Atlantic salmon that they miss the whole picture of clean renewable energy.

He tells us Maine has set a goal of 5,000 MW of offshore wind power by 2030. Anyone see that passed recently? I don't believe that for a moment. I think that's what they would LIKE to do, but I don't think it is on stone yet. Can anyone guess how much that amount of offshore energy would cost us as taxpayers and ratepayers? How many MILES of cable would have to be laid across rich fishing and lobster grounds? Any idea how these turbines would impede the shipping lanes up and down our coast, and what would happen if one or more of the towers were taken out by a collision?

This lunacy from the NWO socialists has to stop. I only hope that we can get control of the swamp in Washington, and that means BOTH our meaningless Senators. They are BOTH RINOS or worse.

Is it because humans are losing their connection with the natural world that many seem perfectly willing to fill the gulf of Maine with these machines, creating an industrialized ocean, in order to fulfill for their own vision of the "green" future?  Ditto our mountains?  If all the turbines in the world were unplugged at this moment, nobody would notice.  After thirty plus years of pouring subsidies into industrial wind, the amount of electricity being generated by these machines amounts to .46% of our electrical needs.  Do these people have no concern for the environment? For the wildlife?  Without discussing real solutions to our energy needs, articles like this rank near the top of the "fake news" pyramid.  We should be investing all of our R&D in SMR's.

I agree wholeheartedly! It is astonishing to read such total bunk being published by the media outlets as if it is gospel truth! They just keep doubling down on their lies about the 'perfect world' aspect of industrial wind. The offshore boosters in this area (Port Clyde) are almost all the worst sort of greenies who are such total hypocrites--they swoon over someone putting in a new dock float because it might effect migrating birds, but think wind turbines off Monhegan (with power cables maybe coming ashore at Port Clyde) is a great moral victory.

(excerpts) From Part 1 – On Maine’s Wind Law “Once the committee passed the wind energy bill on to the full House and Senate, lawmakers there didn’t even debate it. They passed it unanimously and with no discussion. House Majority Leader Hannah Pingree, a Democrat from North Haven, says legislators probably didn’t know how many turbines would be constructed in Maine if the law’s goals were met." . – Maine Center for Public Interest Reporting, August 2010 https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-power-bandwagon-hits-bumps-in-the-road-3/From Part 2 – On Wind and Oil Yet using wind energy doesn’t lower dependence on imported foreign oil. That’s because the majority of imported oil in Maine is used for heating and transportation. And switching our dependence from foreign oil to Maine-produced electricity isn’t likely to happen very soon, says Bartlett. “Right now, people can’t switch to electric cars and heating – if they did, we’d be in trouble.” So was one of the fundamental premises of the task force false, or at least misleading?" https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-swept-task-force-set-the-rules/From Part 3 – On Wind-Required New Transmission Lines Finally, the building of enormous, high-voltage transmission lines that the regional electricity system operator says are required to move substantial amounts of wind power to markets south of Maine was never even discussed by the task force – an omission that Mills said will come to haunt the state.“If you try to put 2,500 or 3,000 megawatts in northern or eastern Maine – oh, my god, try to build the transmission!” said Mills. “It’s not just the towers, it’s the lines – that’s when I begin to think that the goal is a little farfetched.” https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/flaws-in-bill-like-skating-with-dull-skates/
