Watch out Maine - The Studies Always Precede the Con Artists (Eastern Renewable Generation Integration Study)

The rent-seeking banksters on Wall Street and in foreign capitals clearly are salivating over all the money they hope to make through the next big fleecing of U.S. tax payers and rate payers: "grid modernization".

They hope to make billions if not trillions on this next big solution to a problem that doesn't exist. Well, it wouldn't exist if not for completely unreliable and non-dispatchable wind and solar. So keep your eyes out for the words "grid modernization". Whether they'll be scaring us with the current grid's susceptibility to EMP attacks, cyber attacks, the "red hot lies" they've built around climate change or just the time tested "aging lines" we've heard in Maine - it's coming and it will be aiming to take unbelievable amounts of money from the unwashed commoners (that's us) and put it in the bank accounts of a tiny few whose main skills are lying and corrupting our so called representatives in government.

If you read this study, realize it is just groundwork for what they plan to march out. It's like the work of Baldacci's wind task force that paved the way for the criminal expedited wind law. And keep in mind it's all based on "computer modeling". That's a fancy man's way of saying LIES. Pay special attention to what they don't talk about such as COST, eminent domain and policy road kill (that's us too).

@Paula: I think we may have common ground there too, however not here :)

Well, Eric, don't get me started on the medical research and pharmaceutical industry!!!!

So it is Billions of Taxpayer dollars annually that we provide paychecks to these people to:

1) not do their jobs.

2) sit in the pockets of industry.

3) mislead the public in promoting these schemes premised on ideals over facts.

4.) Prove that the Government and its underlings are incompetent in the realm of work they are assigned and are just a body count to make the public feel good.

And of course you know the Industry is going to paint a rosey picture.

Unfortunately as I have once stated some time ago, the NERL documents submitted to congress and those empowered, most usually have a disclaimer stating that they are basing their reports on Industry research results. NOT their own findings. I found document after document from the NERL that I was downloading to have these disclaimers.

Although the primary goal of the update was to mitigate the 12-hour discontinuity in aggregate profiles, the wind power conversion was also updated to better reflect future wind turbine technology. The 12-hour discontinuity was addressed by a technique that adjusted the correlated component of the wind power fluctuations by adding a proportion of the adjustment to each individual site. It was applied on a state-by-state basis. The updated wind power conversion incorporated new composite power curves that use larger wind turbines.

The wind power hourly forecasts were also updated based on the new synthesized 10-minute wind power profiles. In general, the same methodology was used to generate these forecasts as was used in the original Eastern Wind Integration and Transmission Study wind database.

Basically all their studies are with lab "mice" in their computers.

And gee, if they don't like the results the program spits out, they adjust the parameters.

We're just nameless guinea pigs useful for their technology experiment.

Other than Street lights, (no data found at this time) 30.3% of the electrical power used in the U.S. is for lighting, homes, offices, businesses, industry. (estimates show approximately that) This can be reduced to > 3% with the advances in technology such as LED lighting. Or an additional 27% in grid capacity. This could be further decreased to > .6% if constant use of lights was eliminated when not needed, and sensor activated or remote controlled device use were reduced or eliminated. So approximately 29.7% more power is currently on the grid if used properly with today's technologies. More capacity is currently available upwards to 60% if industry was to use similar technology in Motor controls and elimination of Induction Transformers were to go Solid State in modifying power levels.

If the article says we currently have 30% additional capacity, with the savings of 29.7% from lighting (excluding street lights) and better efficiencies in industry, I would have to say we have Much more Transmission Grid capacity than needed. So why is MEPCO and CMP needing more ?  LAND DOMINANCE !

Electricity use is not an Entitlement, nor is it a Human Right. Having a safe place to exist is a Human Right.

(excerpts) From Part 1 – On Maine’s Wind Law “Once the committee passed the wind energy bill on to the full House and Senate, lawmakers there didn’t even debate it. They passed it unanimously and with no discussion. House Majority Leader Hannah Pingree, a Democrat from North Haven, says legislators probably didn’t know how many turbines would be constructed in Maine if the law’s goals were met." . – Maine Center for Public Interest Reporting, August 2010 https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-power-bandwagon-hits-bumps-in-the-road-3/From Part 2 – On Wind and Oil Yet using wind energy doesn’t lower dependence on imported foreign oil. That’s because the majority of imported oil in Maine is used for heating and transportation. And switching our dependence from foreign oil to Maine-produced electricity isn’t likely to happen very soon, says Bartlett. “Right now, people can’t switch to electric cars and heating – if they did, we’d be in trouble.” So was one of the fundamental premises of the task force false, or at least misleading?" https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-swept-task-force-set-the-rules/From Part 3 – On Wind-Required New Transmission Lines Finally, the building of enormous, high-voltage transmission lines that the regional electricity system operator says are required to move substantial amounts of wind power to markets south of Maine was never even discussed by the task force – an omission that Mills said will come to haunt the state.“If you try to put 2,500 or 3,000 megawatts in northern or eastern Maine – oh, my god, try to build the transmission!” said Mills. “It’s not just the towers, it’s the lines – that’s when I begin to think that the goal is a little farfetched.” https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/flaws-in-bill-like-skating-with-dull-skates/
