The town of Jackson has recently extended its 6-month old wind moratorium, and their Planning Board will next look at their draft ordinance on January 21. To their credit, they have learned from their next door neighbors in Dixmont, and Jackson's draft ordinance is leaning towards more sensible restrictions than the hollow State Planning Office "Model Ordinance" that John Kerry wants them to adopt. But the ordinance still needs lots of work and the town is torn: Some townspeople are hearing the siren song of the Big Wind plunderers. Visions of green energy and green dollars are clouding their judgement. Those who seek to raise the bar for Industrial Turbine permitting need our support. Expect the press, especially the BDN to cover this debate. We have the ability to keep the public discourse away from the NIMBY themes that our adversaries willl seek to incite. Let's help Jackson defend itself from the invasion.
