RUMOR IS THAT LD 1513 WILL EITHER BE KILLED OR SENT FOR A THOROUGH NEW STUDY!!!!

THANK YOU  ALL OF YOU WHO HAVE WRITTEN A NOTE TO THE EUT MEMBERS.

THE STENCH OF WIND POWER MAY HAVE INCREASED A FEW NOTCHES WITH THE DESPICABLE DEMANDS OF IBERDROLA /BALDACCI IN LD 1513.

WE ARE VERY LUCKY THAT THOSE DEMANDS WERE MADE WHILE THE EMERA/FIRST WIND MERGER IS STILL IN LITIGATION SO THAT POWERFUL TESTIMONIES FROM THE LAWYERS INVOLVED IN THAT CASE IN OPPOSITION TO THE MERGER WERE SUBMITTED AGAINST THIS BILL.

PERHAPS IBERDROLA /BALDACCI THOUGHT THEY WERE JUST TOO POWERFUL AND THIS AGAIN WOULD SLIDE THROUGH A COMPLICIT EUT COMMITTEE LIKE IT DID FOR SO MANY YEARS .

BUT LAWYERS SPOKE AND PEOPLE SPOKE !!!

AS I SAID IN MY TESTIMONY MOST EUT MEMBERS DO NOT" OWN" THE HEINOUS WIND LAW BUT IT IS THEIR DUTY TO CHANGE IT, AND HOPEFULLY THEY REALIZE  TODAY THEY CANNOT CONTINUE TO FURTHER FACILITATE WIND POWER PERMITTING!

A GREEN DAY FOR THE PINE TREE STATE.

7 years of hitting the same nail over and over again !!!

There is no surprise that the presidential election seem to show a major common point : people are fed- up with Washington and every body knows the word cronyism now....maybe Augusta will start to realize that  Maine people , except for lobbyists, are ALSO  fed -up with Augusta . Nothing more than the Expedited Wind law has revealed the amount and the pathological extent of collusion an industry could have with state politicians on the back of state ratepayers and federal taxpayers.

Thank you thank you thank you to everyone who wrote to Committee members.  I wonder if learning about Mike Bond's book finally opened their eyes?  Or maybe it was the story in the Pine Tree Watch Dog about the corrupt Miss  "Potland" (Diane Russell) former EUT Committee member!  I think they may be figuring out in Augusta that voters are watching!

I think we've reached the tipping point.

What's missing is an environmental impact assessment for every new and OLD wind turbine site that also includes associated transmission lines. The impact of a clear cut on the CO2 converting forest MUST be assessed and subtracted from carbon credits, etc.

(excerpts) From Part 1 – On Maine’s Wind Law “Once the committee passed the wind energy bill on to the full House and Senate, lawmakers there didn’t even debate it. They passed it unanimously and with no discussion. House Majority Leader Hannah Pingree, a Democrat from North Haven, says legislators probably didn’t know how many turbines would be constructed in Maine if the law’s goals were met." . – Maine Center for Public Interest Reporting, August 2010 https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-power-bandwagon-hits-bumps-in-the-road-3/From Part 2 – On Wind and Oil Yet using wind energy doesn’t lower dependence on imported foreign oil. That’s because the majority of imported oil in Maine is used for heating and transportation. And switching our dependence from foreign oil to Maine-produced electricity isn’t likely to happen very soon, says Bartlett. “Right now, people can’t switch to electric cars and heating – if they did, we’d be in trouble.” So was one of the fundamental premises of the task force false, or at least misleading?" https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-swept-task-force-set-the-rules/From Part 3 – On Wind-Required New Transmission Lines Finally, the building of enormous, high-voltage transmission lines that the regional electricity system operator says are required to move substantial amounts of wind power to markets south of Maine was never even discussed by the task force – an omission that Mills said will come to haunt the state.“If you try to put 2,500 or 3,000 megawatts in northern or eastern Maine – oh, my god, try to build the transmission!” said Mills. “It’s not just the towers, it’s the lines – that’s when I begin to think that the goal is a little farfetched.” https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/flaws-in-bill-like-skating-with-dull-skates/
