Thanks to Arthur Quenk for this VERY infomative piece on the true cost of energy and share of subsidies.

I wish all the legislators and congresspeople would read these and believe what they say.  It is VERY revealing.

Utah has very cheap electricity, especially for bulk users like the new NSA facility that chose to build there for that precise reason. It is cheap because they get cheap coal from Wyoming. But more and more Big Data like our financial institutions, Google, Microsoft, Hewlett Packard, Amazon, etc are all rebranding themselves as 'sustainable'/environmentally-responsible and buzz words I forget for investors, through big investments in Mega Wind. Their data centers require MEGA MW and it turns out an enviro group estimated how much by FIOA on how much backup generation they applied to permit locally. I think it works out to be near the entire output of a dirty Ohio coal plant. But the main point is that these enviro bloggers and 'experts' like Australia's Chapman and IBM's barnyard, better realize what their carbon footprint is. Chapman's 'research' is to quantify 'click throughs' at 'antiwind' sites, and don't forget the Univ Aalborg study to determine traffic between sites such as this one and international wind critics. The proponents analyze the media, even weekly rags. Such a waste of energy. They do plenty of media manipulation without any effort and they use tried and true '50s style 'advertising' as promotion against the 'disinformation' of the real world. So why don't they just find a sexy Marlboro man to stand in front of the pylons and 120 meter rotors? Why is there no 'placebo' effect of the incredible sums of money poured into knocking down barriers?

Here is good news for IWT: Short 8 Hz IFN pulses at above an individual's threshold enhanced performance on a memory task. In a more carefully executed study like Crichton's IFN reduced symptom reporting in the 'high expectancy' group. Then there is an infrasonic massager that McCunney claims is FDA-approved, and spas use for 10 minute application at 70 dB for its deep tissue penetration. 10 minutes good. 25 years bad. A little stimulant drug increases arousal and is pleasurable in normals (I hear) but in hyperaroused ADD is calming - that was a paradox in the early 70s. But given these 'good' effects of IFN maybe manufacturers will finally disclose sound power below 63 Hz octave band where differences between turbines are greatest, meteorological influences are greatest and individual responses differ the most.

My peeve with Big Data relates to a SunEd project for 300 MW in Texas financed through Citibank with one of the main power purchasers being HP; usual 'call rights' for TerraForm. So there is the tax equity thing and our rates. But Eric had me looking into the global carbon credit issue. I thought it was just the Regional Carbon Credit market through Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative and hyperaggressive Massachusetts RPS that we had to worry about. But the global trade is huge and China was the beneficiary of 58% of it. (By the way, Iran seems to be doing more transparent real research on human impacts of industrial wind energy; China is doing the most on IFN pollution in general, i.e., not limited to wind turbines. Must be a trick to sell more oil). So what does the crash of China's stock market and the west's mean for how many more billions will go into wind energy buildout? The capital costs of turbines and PV panels?

(excerpts) From Part 1 – On Maine’s Wind Law “Once the committee passed the wind energy bill on to the full House and Senate, lawmakers there didn’t even debate it. They passed it unanimously and with no discussion. House Majority Leader Hannah Pingree, a Democrat from North Haven, says legislators probably didn’t know how many turbines would be constructed in Maine if the law’s goals were met." . – Maine Center for Public Interest Reporting, August 2010 https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-power-bandwagon-hits-bumps-in-the-road-3/From Part 2 – On Wind and Oil Yet using wind energy doesn’t lower dependence on imported foreign oil. That’s because the majority of imported oil in Maine is used for heating and transportation. And switching our dependence from foreign oil to Maine-produced electricity isn’t likely to happen very soon, says Bartlett. “Right now, people can’t switch to electric cars and heating – if they did, we’d be in trouble.” So was one of the fundamental premises of the task force false, or at least misleading?" https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-swept-task-force-set-the-rules/From Part 3 – On Wind-Required New Transmission Lines Finally, the building of enormous, high-voltage transmission lines that the regional electricity system operator says are required to move substantial amounts of wind power to markets south of Maine was never even discussed by the task force – an omission that Mills said will come to haunt the state.“If you try to put 2,500 or 3,000 megawatts in northern or eastern Maine – oh, my god, try to build the transmission!” said Mills. “It’s not just the towers, it’s the lines – that’s when I begin to think that the goal is a little farfetched.” https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/flaws-in-bill-like-skating-with-dull-skates/
