QUICK LESSON ON WIND POWER
The best wind locations are generally located in areas remote from the cities where most of the electricity is used. This necessitates construction of extensive distribution networks that make wind power even more uneconomic. The uneconomic realities are hidden in a labyrinth of subsidies, regulations, tax credits, consumer electricity rates, taxpayer costs, and political considerations that camouflage the true costs. In a free market—where government could not create some winners by forcing losses on others—wind power would be noncompetitive with coal, natural gas and nuclear power.

Couldn't make a link to a Bloomberg Technology article about Germany now passing landmark of greater renewable energy gigawatts or whatever than fossil and nuclear. Lesson to learn from that article beware of comparison statistics. The comparison was of nameplate capacities, not actual production. Factor in the actual production capabilities and poof the story deflates. Headline grabbing with dubious use of numbers.

Amen with one addition. Power plants located near end users are the most efficient. Wind farms in their remote locations, sometimes located over a 1000 mile from end users, are the least efficient due to transmission losses. Under these conditions, energy must travel through a labyrinth of substations, transformers and power lines before reaching end users. Most of this original remote wind farm energy is lost and end users are unknowingly being served up an overpriced cocktail of watered down green energy.
