Absolutely shameful that citizens in Franklin County did not attend this public hearing and speak out against this further extension of local welfare for the pathetic undeserving wind industry. Extending TIF to destroy Maine's natural and scenic resources with the scourge of industrial wind power is a total bastardization of the TIF enabling legislation. What the Franklin County Commissioners and other politicians who support wind power are doing is giving away the Quality of Place for a handful of local dollars. Have some balls, politicians! Tell this heinous predatory destructive wind industry that if they want to rape the mountains of Maine, local welfare in the form of TIF will not enrich them--pay full taxes on full evaluation like everyone else. Is Mr. Heidrich the only one who understands this scam???

This is what forces Counties and Communities to take such bad deals when push comes to shove. The state will take those funds, even if at an undervalued amount, if the Community or County does not agree to these bad deals in lieu of a fair tax assement. What more appropriate way to lose ( or piss away ) than for the state to find a new pet project to deflect a taxpayer return ( that should be an Investor risk of P/E gain or loss ) of Tax credits and other subsidies.
