Falmouth Massachusetts Wind Turbines Bowls of Editorial Green Mush

Town Officials Feeding Taxpayers Green Mush Stories Through Local News Media And They Go For It Over & Over & Over

Falmouth Massachusetts 10/2019

Green Mush - politically incorrect news about green energy

The Massachusetts court system shut down both Falmouth nuisance wind turbines in June of 2017. The Town of Falmouth for more than two years continues to hire law firms and engineering firms to do studies that do nothing but pass taxpayer money to these firms.
At the beginning of 2019, the Falmouth Select Board said they were going ask the town attorney to issue an RFP, request for proposal to sell the turbines, repurpose them or move them. Almost every month the story has changed through stories in the local news media.
Ten months later there is NO RFP, request for a proposal but there is a request for 2,5 million at the November 12, 2019 town meeting.
"Who's on first base?" is a comedy routine made famous by Abbott and Costello. The Falmouth Select Board has far outdone Abbott & Costello feeding the public Green Energy Mush Stories through the local Cape Cod media. Green mush is BS.
The monthly wind turbine quotes from various Cape Cod news articles over the past year show how great the core principles of ethical journalism set out below to provide an excellent base for everyone who aspires to launch themselves into persuading the public the Falmouth wind turbines are still a good deal.

In January 2019, Select Board"the Falmouth Select Board unanimously voted to direct Town Manager Julian Suso and Town Counsel Frank Duffy to prepare three requests for proposals (RFPs) to either sell the turbines or move them out of town."

February 2019; Wall Street Journal: "A Green New Deal in Profile" Falmouth spent $10 million on wind turbines. Now it's losing money."The Wall Street Journal published a scathing editorial on the experience of Falmouth, Massachusetts, which spent $10 million on wind turbines, and it's been a disaster," Rep. McClintock said at the hearing. "That small town went deeply into debt to finance them. The townspeople couldn't bear the noise, the constant flickering of light as 400-foot windmills turned and property values plunged 20 percent. I wonder how that squares with the bright picture that you've painted."
"Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker admitted to Congress when asked about noise, shadow flicker and declined property values in Falmouth he admitted the state screwed up."
March 2019 ; Falmouth town administration plans to issue a request for proposals related to the town's two wind turbines at the wastewater treatment plant site in April. The requested proposals are to either lease property outside Falmouth to run the wind turbines, sell the turbines, or repurpose a wind turbine tower as a cellphone and repeater tower. "If all goes as planned, we should have a final product to advertise and issue in the upcoming month of April," Town Manager Julian M. Suso told selectmen at their meeting on Monday, March 11. "I, Frank Duffy, Jennifer Petit and Peter Johnson-Staub are working with consultant Weston & Sampson in assembling elements necessary for the multiple procurement options outlined by the board," he said."
April 2019; "The Town of Falmouth Board of Selectmen, acting through the office of the Town Manager, is seeking letters of interest for a wind turbine project host agreement. The requested letters of interest are sought from either public or private entities with sufficient land, wind resource and electrical interconnection capacity to host one or both of the Town's two large-scale wind turbines for the mutual benefit of both parties."
May 2019: "Falmouth officials are trying to mitigate the financial damage to the town from two stilled wind turbines. Removing them is estimated to cost between $8.1 and 9.6 million, and the town is also potentially on the hook for $3.5 million of a $5 million loan from the state's Clean Water Trust."
"Instead, town officials are hoping someone will move the massive wind turbines out of Falmouth and operate them, and the town wants to share in the revenue the wind turbines generate, If someone were to operate the wind turbines somewhere, the town might not have to pay back the $3.5 million portion of the Clean Water Trust loan."
June 2019: "Town Manager Julian Suso received a handful of wide-ranging ideas in response to his request for letters of interest in the turbines. Varying levels of interest have been expressed by nine different entities."
July 2019 : No News stories
August 2019: "If there's a lesson (a warning) to others out there, from a life lived through a wind storm… be on guard! Know that there are people willing to ignore the truth. People from the wind energy industry, science and medicine to your local and state government officials. People beholden to a new standard of rules. These new rules are placing personal and property right standards at risk."
"WHY? Because wind energy developers, scientists, medical practitioners and government officials have "other people" they're responsible to. "Other people" and those that serve them often have little to no regard for decency and the lawful rights owed the average citizen."

September 2019: "Taking down the town's wind turbines is taking longer than expected."We are still working with consultant Weston & Sampson in crafting a proposal," Town Manager Julian M. Suso said. "It is likely going to be an RFQ [request for qualifications] rather than an RFP [request for proposals]. We are working on that, along with our legal counsel, procurement officer and Weston & Sampson. We are getting close."
"Mr. Suso said the town will likely issue this request for qualifications by the end of October. The RFQ will examine the responding company's qualifications and ability to perform the work."
October 2019:Town Meeting Article 14: "The Falmouth Select Board will ask Town Meeting Members on November 12, 2019, for 2.5 million to dismantle and disassemble both wind turbines

Maine Center For Public Interest Reporting – Three Part Series: A CRITICAL LOOK AT MAINE’S WIND ACT

(excerpts) From Part 1 – On Maine’s Wind Law “Once the committee passed the wind energy bill on to the full House and Senate, lawmakers there didn’t even debate it. They passed it unanimously and with no discussion. House Majority Leader Hannah Pingree, a Democrat from North Haven, says legislators probably didn’t know how many turbines would be constructed in Maine if the law’s goals were met." . – Maine Center for Public Interest Reporting, August 2010 https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-power-bandwagon-hits-bumps-in-the-road-3/From Part 2 – On Wind and Oil Yet using wind energy doesn’t lower dependence on imported foreign oil. That’s because the majority of imported oil in Maine is used for heating and transportation. And switching our dependence from foreign oil to Maine-produced electricity isn’t likely to happen very soon, says Bartlett. “Right now, people can’t switch to electric cars and heating – if they did, we’d be in trouble.” So was one of the fundamental premises of the task force false, or at least misleading?" https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-swept-task-force-set-the-rules/From Part 3 – On Wind-Required New Transmission Lines Finally, the building of enormous, high-voltage transmission lines that the regional electricity system operator says are required to move substantial amounts of wind power to markets south of Maine was never even discussed by the task force – an omission that Mills said will come to haunt the state.“If you try to put 2,500 or 3,000 megawatts in northern or eastern Maine – oh, my god, try to build the transmission!” said Mills. “It’s not just the towers, it’s the lines – that’s when I begin to think that the goal is a little farfetched.” https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/flaws-in-bill-like-skating-with-dull-skates/
