Falmouth Officials Hid Wind Turbine Infra Sound Warnings

Vestas Wind Turbine CEO Engel Ditlev In 2011 Admitted Their Turbines Generate Infra-Sound And They Do Not Have The Technolgy To Stop It.

In the early years of wind turbine installations studies prior to 2005 the Massachusetts Technology Collaborative today known as the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center produced wind turbine feasibility studies.These studies as exampled in the Mattapoisett, Marion, and Rochester, Massachusetts study warned of two distinct types of noise from wind turbines. The first being noise measured in decibels and the other was the "human annoyance."
 
The warning of "human annoyance" was in the study because scientist and researchers at that time were aware of studies done around the country about the effects on people living around experimental wind turbine projects.
In the 1970s and 1980s, the US Department of Energy and NASA became aware wind turbines generated low-frequency infrasound that affected people living around wind turbines that noise became to be known as the human annoyance or the nuisance noise from wind turbines.
Between 2004 and 2005 the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center a state agency had purchased two Vestas V-82 type 1.65 megawatt 110 decibel Vestas gear driven wind turbines.The state agency could not sell the turbines to any local towns in part due to the warnings of two distinct types of noise. Residential homeowners became wary of the warnings. Ultimately the turbines went up for auction and no one bid on them.
The Massachusetts Clean Energy Center tasked with achieving the goal of 2000 megawatts of land-based wind turbines by the year 2020 was desperate to sell the two Vestas wind turbines. The state agency had to sell the turbines to get the wind turbine program off the ground in Massachusetts.
The Massachusetts Clean Energy Center financed a study for Falmouth, Massachusetts by KEMA Inc. This Falmouth study dropped the warning of two distinct types of wind turbine noise but in its place made reference to 99 homes and included the streets where the Falmouth wind turbine may affect homes. A map in the KEMA Inc study did show using a Vestas V-82 wind turbine decibel levels could well exceed 50 decibels on Blacksmith Shop Road. The Falmouth study never warned of the two distinct types of noise.
The Massachusetts Clean Energy Center the owners of the Vestas 110 decibel turbines had to give the Town of Falmouth a million dollars to take the first turbine off its books !
In 2010 the Town of Falmouth installed its first Vestas V-82 wind turbine in which noise complaints started almost the day the turbine started. Neighbors complained of being dizzy, sick unable to sleep and unable to work in their yards during the daytime while the turbines operating.
Massachusetts officials from various state agencies anxious to fight the war on fossil fuels took the stand that the Falmouth neighbors were making up stories and the turbines did not hurt anyone.In other words, the Falmouth neighbors were collateral damage in the war on fossil fuels. The Massachusetts Democratic Party Platform calls for fighting the war on fossil fuels as a real war. As further proof of ignoring infra sound the state of Massachusetts since the inception of the wind turbine programs has never examined anyone living around a wind turbine because they already know the results.
Massachusetts state and local officials are guilty of inflicting damage on residential home owners taking health and property rights with no compensation.
In 2011 after the installation of the first wind turbine installed in Falmouth, Massachusetts the Chief Executive Officer of Vestas wind company CEO Engel Ditlev wrote a letter to Karen Ellemann about low-frequency noise. The CEO responded that Vestas does not have the technology to stop the noise. The CEO of Vestas wind company in 2010 admitted their turbines do generate low-frequency noise.
In December of 2011 Stephen E. Ambrose, INCE (Brd. Cert.) Robert W. Rand, INCE Member produced a study called the Bruce McPherson Infrasound and Low-Frequency Noise Study for Falmouth, Massachusetts. The investigators were surprised to experience the same adverse health symptoms described by neighbors living at a Falmouth representative neighbor's home and near other large industrial wind turbine sites.
The Town of Falmouth Massachusetts in 2012 went forward placing its second Vestas V-82 type 1.65 megawatt wind turbines that generate 110 decibels of chest pounding noise equal to a hard rock band. This turbine went up with no wind turbine noise study or a study of the two wind turbines working together.
The Falmouth wind turbines went up illegally without Special Permit 240-166 which would have required additional studies, hearings, and notifications to the residential homeowners around the turbines by the Falmouth Zoning Board of Appeals. In addition, the KEMA Inc study done for the Town of Falmouth required the Town of Falmouth to apply for Special Permit 240-166.
The Massachusetts Superior Court has agreed with the Falmouth Zoning Board of Appeals that the turbines are a nuisance and shut them down.
The evidence shows for 40 years our politicians have known that industrial/commercial wind turbines are a bunco scheme of enormous consequence. Government agencies as early as 1979 confirmed two distinct types of noise from wind turbines measured in decibels and human annoyance today called low-frequency infrasound.
Scientist Neil Kelley and his team in the mid 1980s thoroughly documented significant adverse health effects resulting from inaudible, very-low-frequency sound produced by a large wind turbine in Boone, N.C. This scientifically rigorous NASA and Department of Energy-sponsored study, in cooperation with MIT and four other prestigious universities looked into complaints from nearby residents about sleep problems along with whooshing and thumping sounds it made.The wind turbine also had complaints of disrupted television line of sight reception.
Further evidence shows the federal government, U.S. Department of Energy and NASA, has known and documented 40 years ago the effects of wind turbine infrasound on neighbors in Boone, North Carolina.

The world's largest windmill began operating last year in Boone, N.C. With blades that stretch 60 meters (200 ft.) from tip to tip and can generate 2,000 kw of electricity, it is also, it seems, the world's noisiest. Besides dominating the scenic Blue Ridge Mountains landscape—or despoiling it, as some of those living near by complain—the monster rattles windows, bounces cups and saucers and creates an irritating swish-swish.
Surprised by this unexpected noise pollution from an experimental power plant that was supposed to be almost entirely free of environmental headaches, engineers from the U.S. Department of Energy and NASA flocked to Boone (pop. 8,754). Their findings: though the very low-frequency sound waves (about 2 cycles per sec.) from the windmill are below the usual range of human hearing, they can be amplified by wind and weather conditions and the terrain over which they are directed and thus become powerful enough to vibrate objects in the home.
Muffling the wind machine may force a major retooling of the $6 million project, including a change of blades and electrical generators to allow for slower rotation. It may also require a reorientation of the basic design, so that future windmills face into the wind rather than away from it. Meanwhile, the Department of Energy has given Boone some temporary relief. Until some way can be found to hush the noisy blades, they will no longer be allowed to whirl at night, in the early morning or on weekends.
