Environment Destroying and Treasury Draining Wind Industry Now Trying To Sell Itself on Morality (BDN)

Huckster industry is now preaching what's moral. A new level of brass.

With wind, Maine has obligation to generate clean energy locally, export it, grow economy

Well put. Re. tourism, how much does ME have left after NAFTA and the grid is at capacity. I think our lawmakers are selling us out, because "duh, didn't know" only works for a short time. So , if any potential candidates are going around our areas campaigning in 2014, I would be interested in knowing why the democrats are still trying to go with "duh, I didn't know."

Don't think it is all bribery either. Remember when a lovely woman , organic farmer, was running for gov. She had no money. Bill Clinton came to ME to fund raise for the democrats. It was covered in the BDN. All the money raised was given to Baldaci. And we know how well that turned out. Let's get involved and follow them around. Don't have to be a democrat. As the corporations have more and more influence, WE have less and less. I like Ron Paul.

That moral, spiritual argument was made by a wind proponent down here who thought her 'religion' should trump the concern that 500 ft. turbines would prevent the spiritual practice of a local, albeit small first American tribe. I just have to wonder what the Chinese miners and those living near the pools of toxic waste involved in rare earth mining and refining, or closer to home copper mining and cement manufacture, composite manufacture, and the list goes on have to say. And about the 'export value', what CT regulators made clear is that the electrons generated will go north to Canada if they leave Maine at all. What is exported is the value of the so-called environmental benefits for MA and CT ratepayers at as much as over 6¢/kWh. I won't even try to touch on the AWEA propaganda of no measurable impact on health, flora and fauna, or real estate, but I will mention that tourism studies in Scotland were done at a time when wind energy factories were few and not in the tourists' face and the idea was that why locally tourism might suffer, they would just go elsewhere in Scotland. You have to wonder what proponents think about the morality of energy poverty and about the consequences for health of an unreliable grid.

The wind pushers are running out of steam due to reality. So far, I have not heard back from Mike Michaud or the ME democratic HQ. Willing ignorance on the part of democrats? Guess it will take someone or some people with more clout than mine to get through to them. Don't want another LePage, although there are things I like about him. Mainly anti wind. Can't vote for a pro winder.

******** IF LINKS BELOW DON'T WORK, GOOGLE THEM*********

(excerpts) From Part 1 – On Maine’s Wind Law “Once the committee passed the wind energy bill on to the full House and Senate, lawmakers there didn’t even debate it. They passed it unanimously and with no discussion. House Majority Leader Hannah Pingree, a Democrat from North Haven, says legislators probably didn’t know how many turbines would be constructed in Maine if the law’s goals were met." . – Maine Center for Public Interest Reporting, August 2010 https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-power-bandwagon-hits-bumps-in-the-road-3/From Part 2 – On Wind and Oil Yet using wind energy doesn’t lower dependence on imported foreign oil. That’s because the majority of imported oil in Maine is used for heating and transportation. And switching our dependence from foreign oil to Maine-produced electricity isn’t likely to happen very soon, says Bartlett. “Right now, people can’t switch to electric cars and heating – if they did, we’d be in trouble.” So was one of the fundamental premises of the task force false, or at least misleading?" https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-swept-task-force-set-the-rules/From Part 3 – On Wind-Required New Transmission Lines Finally, the building of enormous, high-voltage transmission lines that the regional electricity system operator says are required to move substantial amounts of wind power to markets south of Maine was never even discussed by the task force – an omission that Mills said will come to haunt the state.“If you try to put 2,500 or 3,000 megawatts in northern or eastern Maine – oh, my god, try to build the transmission!” said Mills. “It’s not just the towers, it’s the lines – that’s when I begin to think that the goal is a little farfetched.” https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/flaws-in-bill-like-skating-with-dull-skates/
