Dylan Voorhees and Chris O'Neil in a 14 Minute Must-Hear Audio This Morning on Gov's Exec Order

When I first tried to listen to this, nothing happened. Then I clicked on a grayish icon in the upper left and it asked me to "Allow Flash". Then it worked.

Thoughts

In 2010 NRCM's Dylan Voorhees suggested that by 2012 it would be possible that wind power could be supplying 20% of New England's electricity needs. It's now roughly eight years later and wind power accounts for only 3.2% of New England's electricity. At the same time, much has changed since eight years ago or ten years ago when the Expedited Wind Law came into being. Not the least of what's happened is many Mainers have been hurt badly by wind and many other Mainers are increasingly aware that industrial wind in Maine simply has not delivered on its promises. Also, the push for renewables over reliables has resulted in Massachusetts blocking badly needed natural gas pipelines to Maine. Large hydroelectricity has also been blocked. Economically speaking, the poorer one is, the more the resulting high electricity rates have hurt you. While I'm sure this was not intended, it's what happens when less expensive electricity is thwarted by teams of attorneys and others from Boston, Portland and even more far flung places that care not for Maine.

Here is NRCM on video in 2010 making the above referenced 20% in 2012 statement for New England; scroll to 24 minutes and 45 second mark.

Here is a table showing wind at only 3.2% of New England's electricity:

JULY 6, 2018

Wind is a virtual non-factor on these hot days across ISO-NE

See the following ISO-New England 2018 daily generation by fuel type data:

2018_daygenbyfuel_SUMMARIZED.xlsx

Screenshot of last 10 days for select fuel types:

Please keep in mind that these data are for electricity generation only. So as insignificant as wind is here, bear in mind that in Maine, electricity generation accounts for less than 10% of annual CO2 emissions. In other words, when you see wind here at 1%, it's really 1% of a tiny percentage. Maine is being destroyed and Mainers' lives turned upside down for this nonsense. It's all about money - taking ours and putting it in the pockets of the wind developers and those they've "gotten to".

Here's an except from Part 3 o3 from the Maine Center For Public Interesting Reporting:

After proposing major changes to state law that would speed up the review of wind power projects, Gov. John Baldacci’s wind power task force members went one step further: They made a map.

Without the map, the law would just be a set of rules. The map was essential because it showed where wind turbines could go to get fast-track consideration.

The map designated all the organized towns and about a third of the unorganized

territory as the state’s “expedited wind zone” where that speedy consideration of projects would take place. The task force also proposed to allow the Land Use Regulation Commission (LURC) to expand the areas if applicants met certain standards.

How that map got drawn is not clear from the official record of the task force’s meetings. That’s because summaries for the last two meetings don’t exist, says task force chair Alec Giffen’s secretary, Rondi Doiron.

“Everyone was working straight out on getting the report done and no one had time to get the summaries done,” Doiron wrote in an email to the Maine Center for Public Interest Reporting.

But Giffen and others freely describe the map’s genesis: First, Giffen consulted with the developers’ representatives one-by-one, as they were loathe to share proprietary information with competitors.

Then he went to the environmental groups and asked what areas they wanted to protect. Then he came up with a proposed map designating expedited wind development areas.

“I integrated, based on what I knew about what areas were important for what kinds of uses,” said Giffen, “presented it to the task force and got concurrence that the way in which it was outlined made sense.”

Others describe the map-drawing process as a last-minute rush to get the task force’s report done in time for legislators to consider as they neared the end of a short session.

“There was a lot of ‘Here, here, here and here’ and ‘No, no, no and no,” during the map debate, said task force member Rep. Stacey Fitts, R-Pittsfield. “It changed several times.” Maine Audubon’s Jody Jones described the process as “I want this in, I want this out.” Whatever the process looked and sounded like is lost to the public record because no minutes were taken or recorded.

And that, says Sun Journal managing editor Judy Meyer, who’s also vice president of the Maine Freedom of Information Coalition, is “shocking.”

Maine law doesn’t require groups like the governor’s wind task force to memorialize deliberations, says Meyer.

THE NRCM  IS IN MY OPINION - one the  BIGGEST ENEMY"S that the  people of the STATE of MAINE  has !

THEIR  FOUNDING Principles  were  to  PRESERVE any and ALL of the Natural resources  of the the STATE of MAINE!

They are  doing anything but the opposite - by allowing  the WIND Power Development Industry - LEVEL the Tops  of MAINES Mountains  and put the most awful ugliest  STRUCTURES ever invented by man ! Structures that  DESTROY more than they produce in the WAY of  BIRD STRIKES,SOUND POLLUTION, DEGRADATION Of  the SCENIC SPLENDOR of the state of MAine !  BACK  14 years ago-  the then GOVERNOR - JOH BALACHI- Signed a proclamation - that MAINERS must  PRESERVE  the STATE in its  PRISTINE  Condition  and designate it as   the "VACATION- DESTINATION" !

NOW the State  is loosing   TOURIST REVENUE - BIG- Time because of the destruction of the SCENIC VISTAS  that  99.99%  of the Tourists  come here to see. and enjoy...

The NRCM  has REVERSED its Role from PRTECTING this STATE Natural Resouces- to a PARTERSHIP  in the destruction of this states  NATURAL RESOURCES !

LAND RAPERS/MOUNTAIN DESTROYERS of MAINE -- THEY WILL NOT be Happy until  they have  TOTALLY DESTROYED  the BEAUTIFUL state of MAINE, AL FOR THE ALMIGHTY  $$$$$.!

THE wind Power  CON-ARTISTS- LED BY BAldachi And King  have in fact  _SOLD OUT the state of MAINE to the DOWN-COUNTRY Carpet -Baggers! Both of these people  have a direct- VESTED INTEREST  in any and all development of  WIND-POWER proliferation in the state of  MAINE!

They both have used their INFLUEANCE  In Both the GOVERNORS office and in WASHINGTON,D.C. to  insure that BOTH Of them  will be come MILLIONARES at the EXPENSE of their Fellow  MAINE CITIZENS !

Neither one wants to EVEN RECOGNIZE THAT there are some very SERIOUS  DISADVANTAGES  that WIND POWER GENERATION  CREATES ! I am very disappointed  by how the  MARKETING team has   CONNED  The LOCAL population by offering  VIRTUAL BRIBES  to  win-over  there approval! THey cant see that they be  "TAKEN to the CLEANERS" - because most of them do not live when the same proximity  of the WIND  TURBINES  INCEDABLE  NOISE they produce - AMONG other VERY serious an irreparable  Consequences of the DEVELOPMENT and DESTRUCTION of  the  FLORA & FAuna and the  TERR- FIRMA (LAND)

BY their Own admission - they maximum life expectancy is only 20 years! After the FEDERAL subsidy's  are EXHAUSTED- and the  RATE -Payers  down country  see their POWER Bills tripling - THE WIND TURBINES IN MAINE WILL BE TURNED OFF !

THE CONSUMERS  In the  USER STATES do not see or hear of the DAMAGE being Done to the State of Maine  NATURAL resources- all they know there is POER when they throw the switch !

Why is it that all  or any of these WIND Turbines cannot be located in  THEIR STATES- The states that use the  99% of the  Energy they produce ??

Does anyone out there  have an answer  to this question? I KNOW the Wind Blows just as much or more  in MASS.,CONN.,R.I.,N.J., & N.Y.  and certainly  CANADA !!????

They can not get in, to manipulate the outcome as they most likely did in the past. As they did with the Mining Statute.

I have to laugh when I hear NRCM and others complain that the Governor's proposed Advisory Commission will not be "public proceedings".

Here's an email dated Jan 2008 from Alec Giffen, Chairman of Baldacci's Wind Task Force, to Karin Tilberg, the liaison between the Task Force and the Governor (and BTW, she is now Exec Director of the Forest Society of Maine). The email describes the secret process that was used to determine where to draw the boundaries of the expedited wind permitting area.

(excerpts) From Part 1 – On Maine’s Wind Law “Once the committee passed the wind energy bill on to the full House and Senate, lawmakers there didn’t even debate it. They passed it unanimously and with no discussion. House Majority Leader Hannah Pingree, a Democrat from North Haven, says legislators probably didn’t know how many turbines would be constructed in Maine if the law’s goals were met." . – Maine Center for Public Interest Reporting, August 2010 https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-power-bandwagon-hits-bumps-in-the-road-3/From Part 2 – On Wind and Oil Yet using wind energy doesn’t lower dependence on imported foreign oil. That’s because the majority of imported oil in Maine is used for heating and transportation. And switching our dependence from foreign oil to Maine-produced electricity isn’t likely to happen very soon, says Bartlett. “Right now, people can’t switch to electric cars and heating – if they did, we’d be in trouble.” So was one of the fundamental premises of the task force false, or at least misleading?" https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-swept-task-force-set-the-rules/From Part 3 – On Wind-Required New Transmission Lines Finally, the building of enormous, high-voltage transmission lines that the regional electricity system operator says are required to move substantial amounts of wind power to markets south of Maine was never even discussed by the task force – an omission that Mills said will come to haunt the state.“If you try to put 2,500 or 3,000 megawatts in northern or eastern Maine – oh, my god, try to build the transmission!” said Mills. “It’s not just the towers, it’s the lines – that’s when I begin to think that the goal is a little farfetched.” https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/flaws-in-bill-like-skating-with-dull-skates/
