As a dedicated supporter of all anti-wind groups, especially those based in Maine, I am mortified to learn of the recent intramural backstabbing in our "movement." I just don't understand why someone thought it would even remotely be considered a good idea to foment dissension within our ranks. We are ALL on the same team. We may disagree with each other about strategy, tactics or decisions, but we ARE ALL ON THE SAME TEAM! We are at a distinct disadvantage, in peril because our opponents are well connected and well funded. We need EVERY VICTORY WE CAN GET, no matter how minor. I would like to call on EVERYONE in our fight to PULL TOGETHER, and renounce once and for all the juvenile "payback" schemes --- played out in public --- that are detrimental to our cause. Thank you for letting me blow off steam on this topic.

Once an appeal is in it should stand. FMM had reasons I hope?

If you, or anyone you know, lives or has a camp with-in 2 miles of a project, please make a comment to DEP.  Comment on "complaint" protocol.   Right now, all complaint protocols are in the hands of the developer.      I have much information to back up noise issues.

Excellent, Long Islander. Thank you for the reminder.

United we stand. Divided, the expedited wind law stands. The following is excerpted from "A Note From The Site Administrator". Thank you all in advance for keeping things positive here.

The primary purpose of this website is to allow like minded individuals help this cause by sharing information and experiences and educating those seeking information. We are outspent and out-resourced by the powerful corporate interests that are using all their powers to site industrial scale wind complexes throughout the Maine countryside. We thus value this site as an important communications tool and are concerned that it be used in a manner that helps further our cause.

Hours later, I still don't see any wisdom in what has taken place, despite Kevin Gurall's post. None at all.

Just Received this

Dear Interested Person:

The Board of Environmental Protection has just received notice that Friends of Maine’s Mountains has withdrawn its appeal of the Bingham Wind Project.  A copy of the withdrawal letter is attached.  Accordingly, the Bingham Wind Project is no longer pending before the Board, and it has been removed from the Board’s meeting agenda.  Withdrawal of the appeal means that the Commissioner’s decision approving the Bingham Wind Project stands.

If you have any questions, please contact me.

Gary Campbell, I am familiar with your work and a great admirer. I perhaps did not execute perfectly, but I renew the call for unity.

(excerpts) From Part 1 – On Maine’s Wind Law “Once the committee passed the wind energy bill on to the full House and Senate, lawmakers there didn’t even debate it. They passed it unanimously and with no discussion. House Majority Leader Hannah Pingree, a Democrat from North Haven, says legislators probably didn’t know how many turbines would be constructed in Maine if the law’s goals were met." . – Maine Center for Public Interest Reporting, August 2010 https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-power-bandwagon-hits-bumps-in-the-road-3/From Part 2 – On Wind and Oil Yet using wind energy doesn’t lower dependence on imported foreign oil. That’s because the majority of imported oil in Maine is used for heating and transportation. And switching our dependence from foreign oil to Maine-produced electricity isn’t likely to happen very soon, says Bartlett. “Right now, people can’t switch to electric cars and heating – if they did, we’d be in trouble.” So was one of the fundamental premises of the task force false, or at least misleading?" https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-swept-task-force-set-the-rules/From Part 3 – On Wind-Required New Transmission Lines Finally, the building of enormous, high-voltage transmission lines that the regional electricity system operator says are required to move substantial amounts of wind power to markets south of Maine was never even discussed by the task force – an omission that Mills said will come to haunt the state.“If you try to put 2,500 or 3,000 megawatts in northern or eastern Maine – oh, my god, try to build the transmission!” said Mills. “It’s not just the towers, it’s the lines – that’s when I begin to think that the goal is a little farfetched.” https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/flaws-in-bill-like-skating-with-dull-skates/
