Angus king , your prediction of Maine becoming an uninhabitable land has not happened yet !

I quote : "Oil could realistically cost $300 a barrel in 2020 " and " filling your gas tank will be $ 200 and your basement $2ooo "  "Maine with its cold weather will be uninhabitable "
Kings lecture came at a historical time  , indeed two weeks later Governor Baldacci would sign into law the now infamous  " Expedited Wind Law" .....which drew large support of the environmental community and wind industry.
This was 7 years ago , it is amazing how a review of history within the current economical and geopolitical landscape can be enlightening.
Oil prediction prices are difficult but certainly creating an emergency law in 2008 is proven today totally absurd . Turbines erected in Mars hill,  Beaver ridge. Kibby, Rollins , Vinalhaven, Roxbury , spruce Mt  will have run their useful lives  even if oil prices would escalate drastically in few years and oil being not used to produce electricity , this is a moot point .

Angus was full of bull then and he is full of bull now for pushing the industrial wind scam on Maine and the rest of the country. The "Saudi Arabia of wind" my ass. He sure did make millions on it. Wonder if he'll ever do jail time or will he just ride off into the sunset?

a good argument for your nephews Penny is that at the latest  legislative session, during the wind law modification related bills , never was climate change used as an argument by the opponents of the bills , but jobs and profit margin only.

Also during the noise hearings of July 2011, same thing , jobs and wind companies'  losses were argued against the change in noise level proposed .

he is deceptive and a whole young generation has been green washed with lies

Because the only one telling my nephews the facts is their old auntie, and one person can't be right when the rest of the world is saying something different. Because they're naive and trusting, and they're reading this "renewables will stop global warming, we must do this or we'll surely perish!" mantra in text books now and they really and truly believe in this fear mongering.  This isn't science based, it's a very cleverly crafted religion that's going to make a lot of people/companies rich.  When something is a religion, proof isn't needed or necessary to promote an agenda.  What makes the religion work is just that people believe.

but then Penny why do they refuse to listen to the facts ???

Comment by Penny Gray on June 5, 2015 at 11:00am

The problem seems to be that an entire generation of young people have been "green washed" and truly believe the gospel Angus King was preaching.  My own nephews are convinced IWT's are going to save the planet and "wean us off foreign oil".  Obviously this isn't going to happen but by the time they realize it, the destruction will have been done.

Maine Center For Public Interest Reporting – Three Part Series: A CRITICAL LOOK AT MAINE’S WIND ACT

******** IF LINKS BELOW DON'T WORK, GOOGLE THEM*********

(excerpts) From Part 1 – On Maine’s Wind Law “Once the committee passed the wind energy bill on to the full House and Senate, lawmakers there didn’t even debate it. They passed it unanimously and with no discussion. House Majority Leader Hannah Pingree, a Democrat from North Haven, says legislators probably didn’t know how many turbines would be constructed in Maine if the law’s goals were met." . – Maine Center for Public Interest Reporting, August 2010 https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-power-bandwagon-hits-bumps-in-the-road-3/From Part 2 – On Wind and Oil Yet using wind energy doesn’t lower dependence on imported foreign oil. That’s because the majority of imported oil in Maine is used for heating and transportation. And switching our dependence from foreign oil to Maine-produced electricity isn’t likely to happen very soon, says Bartlett. “Right now, people can’t switch to electric cars and heating – if they did, we’d be in trouble.” So was one of the fundamental premises of the task force false, or at least misleading?" https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-swept-task-force-set-the-rules/From Part 3 – On Wind-Required New Transmission Lines Finally, the building of enormous, high-voltage transmission lines that the regional electricity system operator says are required to move substantial amounts of wind power to markets south of Maine was never even discussed by the task force – an omission that Mills said will come to haunt the state.“If you try to put 2,500 or 3,000 megawatts in northern or eastern Maine – oh, my god, try to build the transmission!” said Mills. “It’s not just the towers, it’s the lines – that’s when I begin to think that the goal is a little farfetched.” https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/flaws-in-bill-like-skating-with-dull-skates/
