Dixfield Voters Approve Wind Moratorium

Voters in Dixfield voted tonight 89 to 7 to approve a (6) month wind moratorium that can be extended by the selectboard for additional 6 month increments until an acceptable wind ordinance for the town has been finalized! The previous board which had a majority of members who were pro wind actually "illegally" rejected a legal petition for a moratorium submitted by a Dixfield citizen. This has now been rectified.

My Comments to SAM re: George Smith

Mr. Trahan & Mr. Dunlop,

George Smith freely stated that SAM has in the past and currently supports industrial wind companies who are destroying hundreds of miles and thousands of acres of wildlife habitat in our great State of Maine.

Is this the current position of SAM?

Do you and SAM support the unwanted and uneccessary…

Exeter Agri-Energy / Maine has thousands of Cows!

EXETER, Maine (AP) - A family dairy farm in central Maine is using a new system that converts cow manure and food waste into heat and electricity.

Maine's top environmental, agriculture and economic development officials will be on hand Thursday when the anaerobic digestion system is unveiled at the Stonyvale Farm in Exeter, which has about 1,000…

Vote - NO-BAMA

In a visit on Thursday to Iowa—the country’s second-largest wind-producing state after Texas—President Obama will urge Congress to extend a key production tax credit for wind and a clean-energy manufacturing credit. Congress is unlikely to consider these tax credits until year’s end when lawmakers take up the annual “tax-extenders” package. Whether congressional supporters of the tax credits, including senior Republican Sen. Chuck Grassley of Iowa, can muster enough support…

More Help Needed

Does anyone have a list of:

All wind projects currently built in the State of Maine,

Whether they were TIF'd or not,

What the TIF  split was ie: 50/50, 60/40, 90/10 or some other percentage,

And who the LLC is that owns / operates the project

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Political Corruption in Dixfield regarding Citizen's Initiated Wind Ordinance - Attorney review

We had a selectmen's meeting in Dixfield Monday evening. The wind ordinance we had submitted to the town was sent to the town's attorney for review and interpretation by Town Manager Eugene Skibitsky. The town's attorney is Lee Bragg of Bernstein Shur and he found all kinds of fault with the ordinance which prompted the TM to offer another ordinance authored by Norinne Clark and Steve Donahue.

What should be looked…

Email to Rep Stacey Fitts

Rep Fitts,

You should abstain from any vote regarding hydro power or energy in general if you are receiving compensation in any way from industrial wind companies. I am disgusted to think you would chose to protect "investors" in industrial wind rather than lowering electricity costs for the citizens of Maine who are struggling with increased energy costs! Shame on you. I only wish I lived in your district so I could…

Dixfield - 2 Selectmen Terms to Expire

Just a quick note: In the Lewiston Sun Journal there was a short article on nominations. I found out that 2 selectmen, Steve Donahue and Norrine Clark's terms are set to expire.

Therefore, I went right to the town office and took out papers and will be running for one of these seats. I only need 25 signatures for the nomination papers, which will not be a problem. Wish me luck.

PTC Update?

Does anyone have any new information on when the PTC will be presented to Congress AGAIN? Or if there is any deadline when these carpetbaggers can't submit it to Congress?

Frozen in Place - Woodstock Turbines Dead Still Today

As I travelled West on Route 2 in Dixfield just before the center of town, I looked to my left at the Woodstock wind project and low and behold not a single turbine was spinning. Proof positive of the absolute inefficiency of these abberations.

Email Response to Rep. Mike Michaud

Here is the email response I sent to Rep. Michaud's office:

US Rep. Michaud. I know one of your staff will read this but I will take this message to the citizens of Dixfield. I received your "generic" mail response to my concerns regarding the PTC and wind turbines. In this "generic" letter it states:

"I understand the concerns some have expressed with wind energy, as it involves placing wind turbines on our pristine Maine coastlines and mountains. These turbines are…

Maine Center For Public Interest Reporting – Three Part Series: A CRITICAL LOOK AT MAINE’S WIND ACT

******** IF LINKS BELOW DON'T WORK, GOOGLE THEM*********

(excerpts) From Part 1 – On Maine’s Wind Law “Once the committee passed the wind energy bill on to the full House and Senate, lawmakers there didn’t even debate it. They passed it unanimously and with no discussion. House Majority Leader Hannah Pingree, a Democrat from North Haven, says legislators probably didn’t know how many turbines would be constructed in Maine if the law’s goals were met." . – Maine Center for Public Interest Reporting, August 2010 https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-power-bandwagon-hits-bumps-in-the-road-3/From Part 2 – On Wind and Oil Yet using wind energy doesn’t lower dependence on imported foreign oil. That’s because the majority of imported oil in Maine is used for heating and transportation. And switching our dependence from foreign oil to Maine-produced electricity isn’t likely to happen very soon, says Bartlett. “Right now, people can’t switch to electric cars and heating – if they did, we’d be in trouble.” So was one of the fundamental premises of the task force false, or at least misleading?" https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-swept-task-force-set-the-rules/From Part 3 – On Wind-Required New Transmission Lines Finally, the building of enormous, high-voltage transmission lines that the regional electricity system operator says are required to move substantial amounts of wind power to markets south of Maine was never even discussed by the task force – an omission that Mills said will come to haunt the state.“If you try to put 2,500 or 3,000 megawatts in northern or eastern Maine – oh, my god, try to build the transmission!” said Mills. “It’s not just the towers, it’s the lines – that’s when I begin to think that the goal is a little farfetched.” https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/flaws-in-bill-like-skating-with-dull-skates/
