When it is known to be an economic disaster, but regulators look away.

This graphic depicts the several wind projects in place or looking for approval to build in Maine. Power Purchase Agreements with out of state utilities have provided collateral for financing.

DEP/BEP approval is essentially a given for these projects.

The Maine PUC is aware of the transmission constraints  these projects will encounter in trying to…

You can’t drive very far in rural Maine without encountering massive wind turbines

You can’t drive very far in rural Maine without at some point encountering a mountain ridge dotted with massive wind turbines, which was Angus King’s vision, both as governor and, post-governor, as a major investor in wind turbine construction. Back in the good old days, Maine was decreed the “Saudi Arabia  of Wind,” ................…

"First Wind Motel" Planned

No Holiday Inn Express

Until Dec. 22, they lived less than a mile from one of the turbines, within a mile of five more. Each of the 16 turbines are taller than 500 feet and within two miles of their home.

Help has come from many of the family’s supporters — from people in Sheffield to the…

Wind Transmission: Stopping the Monster Line

Wherever in the world wind power is installed to significant degree, new transmission lines must be built, lest the spurting occasional wind-produced electricity will thermally overload the existing lines and severely disrupt the otherwise reliable grid. Yet in Maine, when the $1.4 Billion CMP upgrade (Maine Power Reliability Project) was forced down ratepayers' throats at ratepayer expense, we were told that this project was needed because Maine had "aging…

Negative Pricing in The New England Electric Pool Will Cost Ratepayers a Fortune

Wind projects in New England receive such enormous payments for their generation, they will offer their output to the grid even when prices go negative. Clearly, when low or negative pricing occurs, the best course for the electric power providers is to reduce the production of energy. That's common sense, unless the power producer can be paid handsomely for products attached to their output, " the enhancers ."

Real time wholesale prices in New England averaged $40 per…

‘pHraud’ in omitting Ocean Acidification data in Congressional testimony

“…startling data omission that he told me: “eclipses even the so-called climategate event.””

What if Obama’s climate change policies are based on pHraud?

I’ve reproduced portions of it here, with a link to the full article. The graph with ALL the data is…

BDN - Praising Angus King as "environmental hero" Peter Mills & Sharon Tisher advocate for wind

"However, Maine does have huge untapped potential for offshore wind, tidal power, biofuels, and solar energy. Expanding the use of these alternatives will make Maine more economically independent and generate good jobs here".

Somerset County approves First Wind TIF district

Karen Bessey Pease, a resident of Lexington Township, urged commissioners to reject the TIF proposal, saying that First Wind had already proved their financial capacity to the state and that there was no need to return taxpayer money to the company.

“I realize that First Wind has received their permit to build the Bingham Wind Project, but as a resident and taxpayer in the unorganized territory, I would prefer that you don’t return any money to this developer,” Bessey Pease…

The renewable energy fraud

No-one should have to be made to host harmful, destructive and useless renewable energy projects just because sweetheart deals have been worked out between land owners, local and state politicians, and the renewable energy cartel. No-one!

New England's Wholesale Market Treatment of Wind Evolves as Penetration Increases

Date: 11/11/2013

During 2013, ISO New England (ISO-NE), the region's independent system operator, continued to address a range of issues that impact wind power's access to and participation in the regional power market. These issues cover the integration of variable resources; the forward capacity market; bidding rules in ISO's energy market; and transmission congestion, planning, and cost allocation. Many of the topics are under active consideration, and depending on the outcome,…

Maine Center For Public Interest Reporting – Three Part Series: A CRITICAL LOOK AT MAINE’S WIND ACT

******** IF LINKS BELOW DON'T WORK, GOOGLE THEM*********

(excerpts) From Part 1 – On Maine’s Wind Law “Once the committee passed the wind energy bill on to the full House and Senate, lawmakers there didn’t even debate it. They passed it unanimously and with no discussion. House Majority Leader Hannah Pingree, a Democrat from North Haven, says legislators probably didn’t know how many turbines would be constructed in Maine if the law’s goals were met." . – Maine Center for Public Interest Reporting, August 2010 https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-power-bandwagon-hits-bumps-in-the-road-3/From Part 2 – On Wind and Oil Yet using wind energy doesn’t lower dependence on imported foreign oil. That’s because the majority of imported oil in Maine is used for heating and transportation. And switching our dependence from foreign oil to Maine-produced electricity isn’t likely to happen very soon, says Bartlett. “Right now, people can’t switch to electric cars and heating – if they did, we’d be in trouble.” So was one of the fundamental premises of the task force false, or at least misleading?" https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-swept-task-force-set-the-rules/From Part 3 – On Wind-Required New Transmission Lines Finally, the building of enormous, high-voltage transmission lines that the regional electricity system operator says are required to move substantial amounts of wind power to markets south of Maine was never even discussed by the task force – an omission that Mills said will come to haunt the state.“If you try to put 2,500 or 3,000 megawatts in northern or eastern Maine – oh, my god, try to build the transmission!” said Mills. “It’s not just the towers, it’s the lines – that’s when I begin to think that the goal is a little farfetched.” https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/flaws-in-bill-like-skating-with-dull-skates/
