The UMPI turbine website has a report on "power", which means net power produced, in kilowatt hours (kWh) since a vague date about three years ago.
For the past three days this net power has been a minus; yesterday it was -39 kWh; the day before it was -40 kWh, and the day before that it was - 7 kWh. This is a total 92 kilowatt hours, drawn from the grid just to keep the machine functioning. The reason is obvious - I can see it clearly when I look out my living room in Houlton at the tops of the large nearby large trees - there is practically no wind. This typical of hot weather - the spot price of power must be spiking upward this afternoon, with the demand on the grid very high.
Yet the "clean renewable power of wind" is simply not available.
What do wind power proponents have to say about this? Well?
