Infrasound from Wind Generators: Impact on humans and wildlife

I have just joined Citizens' Task Force on Wind Power - Maine, for the specific purpose of strongly encouraging anyone with concerns about wind "farms" and having industrial wind generators near their homes: to learn about infrasound generated by wind generators. A best resource is "Wind Turbine Syndrome", by Dr. Nina Pierpont, a highly respected and hugely credentialled Child Psychologist, who lives near a new, large industrial windfarm in Northern New York State. She began to have clients coming to her door with a host of peculiar, seemingly unrelated symptoms. She became increasingly alarmed and began to research possible causes. It turned out they all lived near these wind towers. They reported being disturbed by the constant noise level, the "flicker" from sunlight interacting with the spinning blades, etc. Numerous symptoms included migraine headaches, palpitation in the chest and abdomen, intolerable sleep loss, serious attention and behavioral problems in children. She undertook a highly professional study and published the results in this book "Wind Tower Syndrome". She also found that beyond the tangible obvious factors like visual and auditory disturbance, there is a more insidious and disruptive influence of "infrasound", vibrations below the pitch range of human hearing. This is the range of sound used by all wildlife in their communications, direction-sensing abilities, warnings of predators, a host of functions. Infrasound travels long distances in a solid or liquid medium, eg. the ground, bodies of water, buildings. If there is a highly unnatural vibration such as the wind facilities generate, this severely disrupts wildlife, and wreaks havoc in the sensitive systems in the human body.  Please take a look. Read this book and share it around. By the way, most of the people Dr. Pierpont studied moved away, whether they could afford to or not. Their property values declined to, basically, zero. They abandoned their homes. And, notably, once away from the wind turbines, their symptoms vanished. Please, look into this, quickly. You can see the momentum building for wind farms to spring up everywhere. DO something about it! Thank you. You will find this book available from the author at:

Thank you, Tom. We work information about WTS and dBc scale low frequency noise into our presentations every chance we get. Dr. Michael Nissenbaum of Fort Kent, Maine has found these symptoms among residents of the highly impacted area of Mars Hill in a study he conducted last year. As soon as the three turbines on Vinalhaven started cranking, nearby residents stated the same symptoms. It is the truth about wind turbines that the industry is deperately trying to discredit. We know, someday, the truth will win.
We have Dora Anne Mills as head of the Center for Disease Control (CDC) in Maine who refuses to budge in her opposition to any negative health effects from wind turbines. So far, no amount of evidence has changed her mind. One can only speculate why this is so. She is the sister of Janet Mills, the Attorney General, and their brother is Senator Peter Mills who is HUGE on wind power and is running for governor. His website is http://www.petermills.info/
Hi Tom, glad to see you are still involved.. there has been some occasional activity in St. Lawrence County, the legislators approved a horrible PILOT if any developers knock on their door. Your neighbor in Brand on, NY :)
Hello Tom Whitesell - at the March 4 2009 LURC meeting when Stetson II was approved, staff pointed out specifically that dBc willl be included in the full year of "sound testing" that will be done on operational Stetson II. The State of Maine has no guidelines for dBc. I think LURC is, tardily, teying to learn something about dBc. The test results of both dBa and dBc testing should be available in abut a year. Marcia Spencer-Famous, of LURC staff, should be able to send you the results if you request them.
We have a camp about 2.25 miles from Stetson II, across a lake, and we are very interested in the results. I have Nina Pierpont's book. I think Dr, Pierpont may be the Rachael Carson of the situaiton.

Maine Center For Public Interest Reporting – Three Part Series: A CRITICAL LOOK AT MAINE’S WIND ACT

******** IF LINKS BELOW DON'T WORK, GOOGLE THEM*********

(excerpts) From Part 1 – On Maine’s Wind Law “Once the committee passed the wind energy bill on to the full House and Senate, lawmakers there didn’t even debate it. They passed it unanimously and with no discussion. House Majority Leader Hannah Pingree, a Democrat from North Haven, says legislators probably didn’t know how many turbines would be constructed in Maine if the law’s goals were met." . – Maine Center for Public Interest Reporting, August 2010 https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-power-bandwagon-hits-bumps-in-the-road-3/From Part 2 – On Wind and Oil Yet using wind energy doesn’t lower dependence on imported foreign oil. That’s because the majority of imported oil in Maine is used for heating and transportation. And switching our dependence from foreign oil to Maine-produced electricity isn’t likely to happen very soon, says Bartlett. “Right now, people can’t switch to electric cars and heating – if they did, we’d be in trouble.” So was one of the fundamental premises of the task force false, or at least misleading?" https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-swept-task-force-set-the-rules/From Part 3 – On Wind-Required New Transmission Lines Finally, the building of enormous, high-voltage transmission lines that the regional electricity system operator says are required to move substantial amounts of wind power to markets south of Maine was never even discussed by the task force – an omission that Mills said will come to haunt the state.“If you try to put 2,500 or 3,000 megawatts in northern or eastern Maine – oh, my god, try to build the transmission!” said Mills. “It’s not just the towers, it’s the lines – that’s when I begin to think that the goal is a little farfetched.” https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/flaws-in-bill-like-skating-with-dull-skates/
